Agapanthus Blue Moon – Evergreen African Lily
Agapanthus Blue Moon is a beautiful evergreen African Lily producing large rounded flower heads filled with soft pale blue blooms throughout the summer months. Held on sturdy upright stems above attractive clumps of evergreen strap-like foliage, the flowers create a graceful and elegant display that brings colour, structure and architectural interest to borders, patio containers and mixed planting schemes.
Growing to approximately 80–100cm in height, Agapanthus Blue Moon is a reliable and free-flowering variety valued for both its delicate flower colour and year-round foliage interest. The impressive flower heads rise proudly above the foliage, creating a striking focal point while attracting bees and other pollinating insects. Growing Agapanthus Blue Moon
Agapanthus Blue Moon thrives in a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps produce strong stems capable of supporting the large flower heads. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the most impressive floral display.
Container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and benefit from being slightly root restricted, often encouraging even more prolific flowering. As an evergreen variety, the attractive foliage remains an important garden feature throughout the year. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and tidy damaged leaves in spring. In colder regions, provide winter protection during severe frosts, particularly for plants grown in containers.
