Description
Agapanthus Antibes – Deciduous White African Lily
Agapanthus Antibes is a beautiful deciduous African Lily producing large rounded flower heads packed with pristine white blooms throughout the summer months. Held on strong upright stems above neat clumps of fresh green strap-like foliage, the flowers create a bright and elegant display that brings freshness and sophistication to borders, containers and mixed perennial planting schemes. The pure white flowers contrast beautifully with surrounding plants and are particularly effective in moon gardens and contemporary planting designs.
Growing to approximately 70–90cm in height, Agapanthus Antibes combines reliable flowering with excellent garden performance. Furthermore, the impressive flower heads attract bees and other beneficial pollinators while providing weeks of long-lasting seasonal colour. Its graceful upright habit makes it equally suitable for cottage gardens, formal borders and decorative patio displays, where the flowers create a striking focal point.

Growing Agapanthus Antibes
Agapanthus Antibes thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps produce sturdy stems capable of supporting the large flower heads. Additionally, container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and often flower more freely when slightly root restricted. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the best floral display.
As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and cut back old foliage once it has completely died down. Furthermore, applying a winter mulch can help protect the crown during colder weather and encourage vigorous regrowth the following season. Deciduous Agapanthus varieties are generally among the hardiest forms, making them particularly well suited to UK gardens.
