Agapanthus Arctic Star – Semi-Evergreen White African Lily
Agapanthus Arctic Star is a beautiful semi-evergreen African Lily producing impressive rounded flower heads packed with pristine white blooms throughout the summer months. Held on strong upright stems above clumps of attractive strap-like foliage, the flowers create a bright and elegant display that brings sophistication and contrast to borders, containers and mixed perennial planting schemes. The pure white blooms illuminate garden spaces and combine beautifully with both pastel and vibrant planting combinations.
Growing to approximately 70–90cm in height, Agapanthus Arctic Star is a reliable and free-flowering variety that provides weeks of long-lasting seasonal interest. Growing Agapanthus Arctic Star
Agapanthus Arctic Star thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps produce sturdy stems capable of supporting the large flower heads. Additionally, container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and often flower more freely when slightly root restricted. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the best floral display.
As a semi-evergreen variety, Agapanthus Arctic Star may retain much of its foliage through mild winters, particularly in sheltered locations. In colder conditions, some foliage may die back before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and tidy any damaged foliage as required. Furthermore, applying a winter mulch can help protect the crown during colder weather and encourage vigorous growth the following season.
