Description

Agapanthus Eggesford Sky – Deciduous African Lily

Agapanthus Eggesford Sky is a superb deciduous African Lily producing elegant rounded flower heads of soft sky-blue blooms throughout the summer months. The delicate flowers are carried on sturdy upright stems above neat clumps of slender green strap-like foliage, creating a graceful and airy display in borders, containers and mixed perennial plantings. Its gentle colouring blends beautifully with a wide range of garden plants, making it an excellent choice for both traditional and contemporary garden designs.

Growing to approximately 80cm in height, Agapanthus Eggesford Sky is a reliable and free-flowering variety that brings long-lasting colour and architectural interest to the garden. The attractive flower heads rise well above the foliage, attracting bees and other pollinating insects throughout the flowering season. Its elegant blooms also make excellent cut flowers, providing lasting colour and beauty in indoor arrangements.

Growing Agapanthus Eggesford Sky

Agapanthus Eggesford Sky thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps develop strong stems capable of supporting the large flower heads. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during extended dry periods will encourage the best floral display.

As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and tidy away old foliage once it has completely died back. Container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and are ideal for patios and terraces where the elegant flowers can be appreciated at close range. A winter mulch can provide additional protection in colder areas and help encourage vigorous regrowth the following season.
