Description
Agapanthus Chandra – Deciduous African Lily
Agapanthus Chandra is a beautiful UK-bred deciduous African Lily producing elegant snow-white flower heads that stand proudly above neat clumps of green strap-like foliage. The pure white blooms create a striking contrast against the rich green leaves, bringing brightness and sophistication to borders, containers and mixed perennial plantings. Flowering throughout summer, this compact variety provides reliable colour and architectural interest while attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Growing to approximately 65cm in height, Agapanthus Chandra is perfectly suited to smaller gardens, patio displays and container planting. Its compact habit makes it easy to incorporate into a wide range of planting schemes, while the pristine white flowers combine beautifully with both vibrant and pastel-coloured perennials. The sturdy stems hold the blooms well above the foliage, creating an eye-catching display that lasts for many weeks during the summer months.

Growing Agapanthus Chandra
Agapanthus Chandra thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages the best flowering performance and helps develop strong stems capable of supporting the flower heads. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the best floral display. Well-drained soil is particularly important during winter months.
This deciduous variety naturally dies back in autumn before producing fresh new growth in spring. Container-grown specimens perform exceptionally well and can be positioned on patios and terraces where the elegant white flowers can be appreciated at close range. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and apply a winter mulch in colder areas to help protect the crown and encourage vigorous growth the following season.
