Description
Agapanthus Celebration – Deciduous African Lily
Agapanthus Celebration is a beautiful deciduous African Lily producing elegant pale blue flowers that hang gracefully from sturdy upright stems. The distinctive pendulous blooms reveal the influence of the Agapanthus inapertus group, giving the plant a softer and more natural appearance than traditional varieties with rounded upright flower heads. Flowering from June through to August, this charming cultivar provides a long-lasting display of colour and architectural interest in borders, containers and mixed perennial plantings.
Growing to approximately 70–80cm in height, Agapanthus Celebration forms neat clumps of attractive green strap-like foliage that provide an excellent backdrop for its delicate flowers. The pale blue blooms sway gently in the breeze, creating movement and texture while attracting bees and other pollinating insects. Its elegant habit and reliable flowering make it an excellent choice for both contemporary and cottage-style gardens.

Growing Agapanthus Celebration
Agapanthus Celebration thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages the strongest flowering performance and helps produce sturdy stems capable of supporting the graceful flower heads. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant and require only occasional watering during prolonged dry periods. Agapanthus are particularly well suited to container cultivation and often flower best when slightly root restricted.
As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and cut back old foliage once it has yellowed completely. A winter mulch can be beneficial in colder areas and will help encourage vigorous growth and flowering the following season.
