Description
Agapanthus Inapertus Radiant Star – Deciduous African Lily
Agapanthus Inapertus Radiant Star is a graceful deciduous African Lily producing elegant pendulous flowers in attractive mauve-purple shades. The distinctive tubular blooms hang naturally from tall stems, creating a softer and more refined appearance than traditional Agapanthus varieties with rounded upright flower heads. Flowering from mid to late summer, the blooms rise above clumps of fresh green strap-like foliage, bringing colour, movement and architectural beauty to borders, containers and contemporary planting schemes.
Growing to approximately 65-75cm in height, Agapanthus Inapertus Radiant Star makes a striking feature plant in mixed borders, prairie-style gardens and gravel plantings. The gently nodding flowers sway beautifully in the breeze, adding texture and visual interest while attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators. Its elegant flower form and long flowering period make it a valuable addition to both modern and traditional gardens.

Growing Agapanthus Inapertus Radiant Star
Agapanthus Inapertus Radiant Star thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps produce sturdy stems capable of supporting the graceful flower heads. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant and require only occasional watering during prolonged dry spells.
Container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and can be displayed on patios and terraces where the unusual flowers can be appreciated at close range. As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and apply a winter mulch in colder regions to encourage healthy regrowth the following season.
