Description

Agapanthus Duivenbrugge White – Deciduous African Lily

Agapanthus Duivenbrugge White is a stunning deciduous African Lily producing impressive globular flower heads filled with pristine white blooms. The large flower heads are carried on sturdy upright stems above attractive clumps of green strap-like foliage, creating a striking display of elegance and architectural beauty throughout the summer months. The pure white flowers bring brightness and sophistication to borders, containers and mixed perennial planting schemes, making this variety a versatile addition to any garden.

Growing to approximately 100–120cm in height, Agapanthus Duivenbrugge White combines reliable garden performance with exceptional ornamental value. The large flower heads provide weeks of long-lasting colour and contrast beautifully with darker foliage plants, ornamental grasses and vibrant flowering perennials. The nectar-rich blooms attract bees and other pollinating insects, while the flowers are also highly valued as long-lasting cut flowers for indoor arrangements.

Growing Agapanthus Duivenbrugge White

Agapanthus Duivenbrugge White thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps produce sturdy stems capable of supporting the large flower heads. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the best floral display.

Container-grown specimens perform exceptionally well and are ideal for patios and terraces where the elegant white blooms can be appreciated at close range. As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and apply a winter mulch in colder regions to help protect the crown and encourage vigorous regrowth the following season.
