Agapanthus Bristol is a striking deciduous African Lily producing large rounded flower heads packed with rich blue blooms throughout the summer months. Held on sturdy upright stems above neat clumps of fresh green strap-like foliage, the flowers create a bold display of colour and architectural interest in borders, containers and mixed perennial planting schemes. The vibrant blue flowers bring depth and elegance to the garden while blending beautifully with ornamental grasses and other summer-flowering perennials.
Growing to approximately 80–100cm in height, Agapanthus Bristol is a reliable and free-flowering variety that delivers weeks of long-lasting seasonal colour. Growing Agapanthus Bristol
Agapanthus Bristol thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps produce sturdy stems capable of supporting the large flower heads. Additionally, regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the best floral display and maintain healthy growth throughout the season.
As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and cut back old foliage once it has completely died down. Furthermore, applying a winter mulch can help protect the crown in colder areas and encourage vigorous regrowth the following season. Container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and can easily be moved if additional winter protection is required.
