Agapanthus Blue Horizons is a highly ornamental deciduous African Lily valued for both its beautiful blue flowers and attractive variegated foliage. Large rounded flower heads of rich blue blooms are carried on sturdy upright stems above elegant green leaves edged and striped with creamy-white variegation. Growing Agapanthus Blue Horizons
Agapanthus Blue Horizons thrives in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps maintain the best foliage colour and variegation. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the most impressive floral display.
As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and tidy away old foliage once it has completely died down. A winter mulch can provide additional protection in colder regions and help encourage vigorous regrowth the following season. Container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and allow both the flowers and decorative foliage to be enjoyed at close range.
