Description
Agapanthus africanus Albus
Agapanthus africanus Albus is a stunning evergreen African Lily producing elegant rounded heads of pure white trumpet-shaped flowers above attractive clumps of lush green strap-like foliage. Flowering from mid to late summer, this classic variety brings brightness, structure and sophistication to sunny borders, patio containers and Mediterranean-style gardens. Its striking white blooms provide a beautiful contrast against the rich evergreen foliage and surrounding planting.
Why Choose Agapanthus africanus Albus?
This beautiful white-flowering variety is prized for its large flower heads, evergreen foliage and graceful architectural form. The pristine white blooms are carried on sturdy stems above dense clumps of leaves, creating a long-lasting display that attracts bees and other pollinators. It is particularly effective when planted alongside blue agapanthus varieties for a striking colour contrast.
Growing Agapanthus africanus Albus
For best results, plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. This evergreen variety thrives in warm, sheltered positions and benefits from protection during severe winter weather. Regular watering during the growing season and occasional feeding will encourage healthy foliage and abundant flowering.
Perfect for Borders and Containers
The elegant white flowers and evergreen foliage make this variety ideal for sunny borders, courtyard gardens and patio containers. The blooms combine beautifully with lavender, salvias, ornamental grasses and other summer-flowering perennials, creating fresh and sophisticated garden displays throughout the season.
Care and Maintenance
Remove spent flower stems after flowering to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage vigorous growth. Container-grown plants may benefit from winter protection in colder areas. With minimal maintenance, this attractive evergreen perennial will provide years of reliable garden performance.
