Description
Hosta Touch of Class
Hosta Touch of Class is an outstanding medium-sized hosta renowned for its striking blue-green foliage and bright golden-yellow centres. A tetraploid sport of the famous Hosta June, this award-winning variety produces thick, heavily textured leaves with exceptional substance and colour contrast. The blue margins are separated from the golden centre by distinctive green jetting, creating a unique and highly ornamental appearance. Lavender flowers rise above the foliage in midsummer, adding further interest to this exceptional shade garden perennial.
Plants leaves are cut back from August and will reappear late Spring.
Why Choose Hosta Touch of Class?
Hosta Touch of Class is widely regarded as one of the finest blue and gold hostas available. Furthermore, its thick foliage offers improved slug resistance compared to many thinner-leaved varieties. The striking colour combination remains attractive throughout the growing season, making it an excellent focal point in shaded borders, woodland gardens and container displays. As a result, it has become a favourite among hosta enthusiasts and collectors.
Growing Hosta Touch of Class
For best results, grow Hosta Touch of Class in partial shade or full shade in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. Regular watering during dry periods will help maintain healthy foliage and strong growth. Once established, this reliable perennial forms a neat clump approximately 40cm tall with a spread of around 60cm, becoming increasingly impressive each year.
Perfect for Shade Gardens and Containers
The distinctive blue and gold foliage combines beautifully with ferns, heucheras, astilbes and other shade-loving perennials. Moreover, the bold leaf colouring helps brighten darker areas of the garden. Therefore, Hosta Touch of Class is ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, specimen planting and decorative patio containers.
Care and Maintenance
This hardy perennial requires minimal maintenance once established. Remove faded flower stems after flowering and clear away old foliage in autumn or early spring. In addition, applying a mulch each year will help conserve moisture and improve soil quality. Protect emerging shoots from slugs and snails during spring for the best display.
