Description
Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue
Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue is a superb deciduous Agapanthus producing large rounded heads of rich cobalt-blue flowers above attractive green strap-shaped foliage. Flowering freely throughout summer, this elegant variety adds height, colour and architectural interest to borders, patio containers and mixed perennial planting schemes. Its intense flower colour and reliable performance make it a standout choice for sunny gardens.
Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue Features
Throughout the flowering season, Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue produces impressive clusters of vivid cobalt-blue flowers carried on strong upright stems. Furthermore, the richly coloured blooms rise gracefully above the foliage, creating a bold and eye-catching display. As a result, this variety provides exceptional visual impact whether planted individually or in groups.
The nectar-rich flowers attract bees and other pollinating insects throughout summer. Additionally, the long-lasting blooms make excellent cut flowers for indoor arrangements. Consequently, Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue offers both ornamental beauty and valuable wildlife benefits.
Growing Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue
For best results, plant Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue in a sunny position with fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It performs exceptionally well in borders, raised beds and decorative patio containers. Moreover, regular watering during dry periods will encourage healthy growth and abundant flowering.
As a deciduous variety, the foliage dies back naturally in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and tidy old foliage in late winter. Once established, this variety is easy to maintain and flowers reliably year after year.
Why Choose Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue?
Agapanthus Kalmthout Blue combines striking cobalt-blue flower heads with dependable flowering performance and attractive foliage. Moreover, its vibrant blooms provide weeks of colour throughout the summer months. Therefore, it is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a bold and long-lasting display in borders, containers and patio gardens.

Only place/seller i have seen this particular specimen for sale.Being one of their most expensive for sale i gather from exclusivity or scarcity, i can say that the real life colour is true in its description as a deep, true blue! Much darker than the pic shown,(maybe light affected the look of the colour in pic when taken etc). Overall it reminds me of a much darker blue Africanus Blue flowerhead /flower bell shape too in reality! A shade thats very similar too Inapertus Blue or Taw Valley a /or AGM /RHS winner if i recall? Alas in daylight reminds me very much the shade of Agapanthus Sandringham! Overall a delightful addition.Very rarely seen i guess for sale too!
