Agapanthus Enigma – Evergreen African Lily
Agapanthus Enigma is a striking evergreen African Lily celebrated for its unusual bi-coloured flowers and compact growth habit. Large rounded flower heads are composed of elegant white blooms, each delicately flushed with soft blue at the base, creating a beautiful and distinctive two-tone effect. Held on sturdy stems above neat clumps of broad green strap-like foliage, the flowers provide a spectacular display throughout the summer months.
Growing to a height of approximately 50–70cm, Agapanthus Enigma is perfectly suited to borders, patio containers and smaller garden spaces. Its compact size allows it to fit easily into a wide range of planting schemes while still delivering impressive flower power. Growing Agapanthus Enigma
Agapanthus Enigma thrives in a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun encourages the best flowering performance and enhances the attractive colouring of the blooms. Container-grown plants perform particularly well and are ideal for patios, terraces and courtyard gardens where the distinctive flowers can be enjoyed at close range.
Water regularly during dry periods, especially for container-grown specimens, and apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and abundant flowering. Remove spent flower stems after blooming to keep plants looking tidy. In colder areas, provide winter protection for container-grown plants or move them to a sheltered location during severe frosts.
