I would say this is the BEST BLUE Agapanthus of all time!! Prestige Blitz is a great blue runner up to this Elaine but the depth, inky look smashes Grasskop from the Inapertus types!! Alas ,hardly seen anywhere for sale ,only US or here to my knowledge!
Its a 1970s creation i read from the USA but seems never to hit the European shores???? WHY? God knows as with flower heads the size of last year plant of year winner ‘Black Jack’ ,having same size flower head to that in contrast and best blue you’ll see in a flowering plant other than say ‘Salvia Gentian’ for depth and stop dead striking effect!! A real must for an Agapanthus collector!
Top 3 Agapanthus for me 1:Elaine, 2: Hollandii Lyndenburg Blue (hypbrid discovered in gardens from ZA) , 3: Most difficult as so many dark purples like Royal Velvet, Black Jack, Indigo Dreams ,Midnight sky ,all real stunners in depth….Dark Silk…though i think i would say just edges ‘Midnight dreams’ ! More sparse flower head but a unique shine to its deep purple plus unusal flower head shape to most agapanthus in this colour range!
