The attractive flowers are carried on very upright stems above neat clumps of green strap-like foliage, creating a graceful display of colour and architectural interest. Its distinctive grey-blue tones bring a subtle sophistication to borders, patio containers and mixed perennial planting schemes.
Growing to approximately 75cm in height, Agapanthus Blue Rinse is a compact yet eye-catching variety that combines reliable flowering with excellent garden performance. Growing Agapanthus Blue Rinse
Agapanthus Blue Rinse thrives in a sunny position with fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and helps produce strong stems capable of supporting the flower heads. Once established, plants are relatively drought tolerant, although regular watering during prolonged dry periods will encourage the best floral display. Good drainage is particularly important during winter months.
As a deciduous variety, the foliage naturally dies back in autumn before fresh growth emerges in spring. Remove spent flower stems after flowering and cut back old foliage once it has completely died down. A winter mulch can provide additional protection in colder areas and help encourage vigorous regrowth the following season. Container-grown plants perform exceptionally well and are ideal for patios and terraces where the flowers can be appreciated at close range.
