Description
Hosta Liberty®
Hosta Liberty® is one of the most celebrated variegated hostas available, renowned for its bold blue-green foliage edged with exceptionally wide golden-yellow margins. As the season progresses, the margins gradually soften to a creamy white, creating a striking contrast that brightens shaded areas of the garden. This award-winning variety forms a large, upright clump and provides outstanding colour, texture and architectural interest throughout the growing season. It was deservedly named Hosta of the Year 2012 by the American Hosta Growers Association.
The thick, heavily textured leaves become increasingly impressive as the plant matures, developing greater substance and corrugation with age. Derived as a sport of the popular Hosta ‘Sagae’, this variety is highly valued for its dramatic variegation and strong garden performance. The bold foliage creates a spectacular focal point in woodland gardens, shaded borders and large patio containers.
Plants leaves are cut back from August and will reappear late Spring.

Growing Hosta Liberty®
Hosta Liberty® thrives in moist, fertile, well-drained soil and performs best in partial to full shade. Consistent moisture helps the plant achieve its full potential and maintain healthy foliage throughout the growing season. While relatively slow to establish, it becomes increasingly impressive as it matures into a substantial garden feature.
Hosta Liberty® Care Tips
Apply a generous mulch in spring to conserve soil moisture and improve soil fertility. Protect emerging shoots from slugs and snails during early growth. Once established, Hosta Liberty® requires very little maintenance and will provide many years of reliable foliage interest and summer flowers. The thick leaves offer better resistance to damage than many thinner-leaved varieties.
