Description
Hosta June
Hosta June is one of the most popular and widely admired hostas in cultivation, prized for its spectacular foliage and reliable garden performance. This award-winning variety forms a beautiful mound of gold to chartreuse leaves surrounded by irregular blue-green margins, creating a striking display that brightens shaded borders and woodland gardens. A sport of the famous Hosta ‘Halcyon’, it inherits excellent leaf substance and outstanding vigour.
The foliage colour changes throughout the season, adding further interest to the garden. In spring, the leaves emerge with vibrant gold centres and blue-green edges, while brighter conditions can encourage the centres to become creamy-yellow to almost white. The thick leaves are heavily textured and offer good resistance to slug damage, making this variety both beautiful and practical.
Plants leaves are cut back from August and will reappear late Spring.

Growing Hosta June
Hosta June thrives in moist, fertile, well-drained soil and performs best in partial shade. Unlike many blue hostas, it can tolerate a little more morning sun, which often enhances the leaf colouring. Regular watering during dry periods will help maintain healthy foliage and encourage strong growth throughout the season.
Hosta June Care Tips
Apply a mulch of organic matter each spring to conserve moisture and improve soil structure. Protect emerging shoots from slugs and snails during early growth. Once established, this variety requires very little maintenance and gradually develops into a dense clump that provides years of reliable garden interest. The changing foliage colours ensure the plant remains attractive from spring until autumn dormancy.
