Description
Hosta Hadspen Blue
Hosta Hadspen Blue is one of the finest blue-leaved hostas available, prized for its beautiful powdery steel-blue foliage and excellent garden performance. Forming a neat, rounded mound of thick, heavily textured leaves, this outstanding variety brings cool colour, texture and structure to shaded borders, woodland gardens and patio containers.
During midsummer, elegant stems rise above the foliage carrying attractive pale lavender flowers that contrast beautifully with the blue leaves. The substantial foliage is more resistant to slug damage than many thinner-leaved hostas, making it a reliable choice for low-maintenance gardens.
Plants leaves are cut back from August and will reappear late Spring.

Growing Conditions and Care
Plant in partial shade or full shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Regular watering during dry periods will help maintain the best foliage colour and overall plant health. Over time this variety develops into an impressive clump that provides years of garden interest and becomes increasingly attractive as it matures.
Perfect Companion Plants
The cool blue foliage combines beautifully with other shade-loving perennials. Consider pairing with Hosta Gypsy Rose for striking variegated foliage contrast or Hosta Blue Mammoth for a bold architectural display. It also works well alongside ferns, heucheras and astilbes in woodland-style planting schemes.
Ideal Garden Uses
This variety is ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, underplanting shrubs, cottage gardens and container displays. Its elegant blue foliage provides season-long interest and creates a striking contrast with green and golden-leaved plants.
