Description
Hosta Coastal Treasure
Hosta Coastal Treasure is a stunning medium to large hosta grown for its wavy green leaves edged with exceptionally wide yellow margins. As the season progresses, the golden-yellow edges gradually mature to creamy white, creating an ever-changing display of colour and contrast. Forming an attractive mound of textured foliage, this eye-catching variety brings structure, brightness and interest to shaded borders, woodland gardens and container displays throughout the growing season. During summer, pale lavender flowers rise above the foliage, adding further seasonal appeal.
Why Choose Hosta Coastal Treasure?
The broad yellow margins make this variety particularly striking in shaded areas of the garden. As a result, it provides excellent contrast when planted alongside blue, green or variegated hostas. Furthermore, the wavy leaf edges add texture and movement, creating a distinctive appearance from spring through autumn. The foliage changes throughout the season as the yellow margins soften to creamy white, providing long-lasting visual interest.
Growing Hosta Coastal Treasure
For best results, plant Hosta Coastal Treasure in partial shade or dappled shade with fertile, moisture-retentive soil. Regular watering during dry periods will help maintain healthy foliage and vigorous growth. However, good drainage is important, particularly during winter. In addition, incorporating organic matter into the soil will improve moisture retention and encourage strong root development. Hostas perform best in humus-rich soil and benefit from consistent moisture throughout the growing season.
Perfect for Shaded Borders and Containers
Whether planted as a specimen or grouped with other shade-loving perennials, this variety provides dependable garden interest throughout the season. Meanwhile, the dramatic foliage creates a bold focal point in woodland gardens and mixed borders. Because of its medium to large mature size, it is ideal for filling gaps in shaded planting schemes while maintaining an elegant appearance.
Care and Maintenance
Maintenance is straightforward and suitable for gardeners of all experience levels. Remove old foliage in late autumn or early spring to encourage fresh growth. Additionally, applying a mulch each spring will help conserve moisture and improve soil quality. With minimal attention, plants will provide years of reliable garden performance and increasing presence in the landscape.
