Description
Agapanthus Shades of Grey
Agapanthus Shades of Grey is an attractive deciduous perennial producing elegant pale grey-white flower heads above clumps of lush green strap-shaped foliage. Flowering during summer, this distinctive variety brings soft colour and structure to borders, patio containers and mixed perennial plantings. Growing to approximately 80cm in height, it offers a refined appearance that blends beautifully with a wide range of garden styles. It is similar in colour to Windsor Grey but flowers around two weeks earlier and remains slightly shorter.
Why Choose This Elegant Agapanthus?
The unusual pale grey-white flowers create a sophisticated display that stands out from more traditional blue agapanthus varieties. As a result, it combines particularly well with ornamental grasses, salvias and other sun-loving perennials. Furthermore, the neat habit makes it suitable for both large borders and smaller garden spaces.
Growing Agapanthus Shades of Grey
For best results, plant in a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil. Regular watering during establishment will encourage strong growth. However, once established, plants become more tolerant of dry conditions. In addition, an annual application of balanced fertiliser in spring will help support healthy foliage and abundant flowering.
Perfect for Borders and Containers
Whether planted in groups or as a feature specimen, this variety adds texture and long-lasting interest throughout the summer months. Meanwhile, the soft flower colour provides a calming contrast to brighter flowering perennials. Because of its manageable height, it is also an excellent choice for patio pots and container displays.
Care and Maintenance
Maintenance is simple and requires very little effort. Remove spent flower stems after flowering to keep plants looking tidy. Additionally, clear away old foliage in spring to make way for fresh growth. With proper care, plants will provide reliable garden performance year after year.
