Description

Perlite Horticultural Grade Medium P35 – 100 Litres

Perlite Horticultural Grade Medium P35 is a premium horticultural soil amendment supplied in a large 100-litre pack, making it ideal for nurseries, keen gardeners and professional growers. Made from naturally expanded volcanic rock, this lightweight growing medium improves compost structure, drainage and aeration while promoting strong, healthy root development. With a particle size of 1–5mm and a water-holding capacity of approximately 275ml per litre, it provides excellent growing conditions for a wide range of plants.

Why Choose Perlite Horticultural Grade Medium P35?

This is the grade of perlite commonly used for mixing into composts and growing media. Furthermore, it helps make compost lighter, easier to work with and less prone to compaction. As a result, roots receive improved access to both air and moisture, encouraging healthier and more vigorous plant growth.

Improves Drainage and Aeration

The porous structure of perlite creates valuable air spaces within compost and potting mixes. In addition, it improves drainage while retaining sufficient moisture for healthy root development. Consequently, it helps create an ideal balance of air and water within the growing medium. Perlite is widely recognised for improving aeration and supporting vigorous root growth.

Ideal for Compost Mixing and Propagation

Perlite Horticultural Grade Medium P35 can be used at up to 40% by volume in many growing media. Moreover, it is particularly useful for seed sowing, rooting cuttings, container gardening, bonsai cultivation and propagation work. It can also replace sand or grit in compost mixes while helping to maintain a lighter growing medium.

Suitable for Containers and Hydroponics

This versatile product performs exceptionally well in large containers, raised beds and hydroponic systems. Additionally, its neutral pH of approximately 6.5–7.5 means it is chemically stable and will not lock up nutrients or promote unwanted nutrient release. As a result, it is suitable for a broad range of plants and growing systems.

Clean, Sterile and Easy to Use

Perlite is inorganic, sterile and free from pests, diseases and weeds. Furthermore, it helps reduce compost slumping, improves wetting and water movement within the growing media, and assists with temperature stability. For best results, lightly dampen the perlite before use to minimise dust. As perlite is a crushable material, handle bags carefully when opening.
