Plant Packing is an important part of our mail order nursery service. All plants are normally dispatched bare root to reduce postage costs and minimise stress during transit. The roots are carefully wrapped in protective plastic bags before being covered with newspaper for insulation and protection. Plants can also be sent in their containers on request, although additional postage charges may apply. Why Our Plant Packing Works
Over many years of mail order plant sales we have refined our packing methods to ensure plants arrive in excellent condition. Bare root plants travel exceptionally well because the roots remain moist while excess soil weight is removed. This reduces postage costs, minimises damage during handling and helps plants establish quickly when they arrive.
Every order is checked before dispatch and carefully prepared by hand. Plants are inspected for health and quality before being wrapped and packed securely. Additional protection may be added depending on the size of the plant and the weather conditions expected during transit.
Seasonal conditions are also taken into account when preparing orders. During colder periods extra insulation may be used, while warmer weather requires suitable ventilation to prevent overheating. This attention to detail helps ensure plants reach customers in the best possible condition.
