Clematis 'Royalty'
Raised by John Treasure at Burford House Gardens about 1985. A very compact plant, ideal for container culture. It has many semi-double flowers in early summer and a very good crop of single flowers in late summer. Rich purple-mauve with slightly more blue inner tepals. The single flowers are smaller, also a little lighter in colour, revealing a centre boss of yellow anthers on purple filaments. Ideal for a small garden. Best in some sun but not for a north-facing position.
Flowers: early summer (semi-double), mid-late summer (single).
Height: 2m (6-7ft)
