Trillium recurvatum

Wonderful woodland plants, common name Wake Robin, with unique sets of three leaves. An upland plant of well drained soils. Erect, clawed, maroon petals, drooping sepals, and mottled leaves.
Flowers: Usually maroon to bronze. Ovate stalked petals 5 by 2cm.
Leaves: Up to 18cm long weakly marbled at first then fading to nearly plain green.
Height: 25 to 40cm
Usually flowers in April to May. Plants supplied are like thick roots that when planted out now will provide good colour in the spring although it might take a season or two to get estabilished but then they soon clump up. Ideal beside your Hosta's and Brunnera's. Likes the same conditions dappled shade and slightly damp soil but well drained.
I find if you mix 10% bark with your ericaeous compost they will thrive better the bark helps keep the compost acidic and improves the air circulation around the tuber.

Trilliums only posted out from October to March depending on weather conditions.
