A percentage of the admin charges will be going to two registered charities namely NCCPG - Plant heritage http://www.nccpg.com/  and to NOS (National Osteoporosis Society)  http://www.nos.org.uk/  the rest of the admin money goes straight back into maintaining Scroggy Wood and increasing the collection.

If you would like to help the National Hosta Collection at Scroggy Wood to preserve Hosta varieties for generations to come please click on the donate button below to become Friends of Scroggy Wood.  It costs on average £20 a plant to add to the collection annually and for the upkeep of Scroggy Wood. We also have a small Galanthus and Fern collection planted alongside the Hostas.  Volunteers are always welcome to help with weeding, pruning and record keeping of the collection.  If you feel you would like to help out please contact us

Prince Charles is the Patron of the British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society and the NCCPG and The Duchess of Cornwall is the Patron of NOS

We have family members that suffer from Osteoporosis so try to help this worthwile cause as much as possible so hopefully by making this new wood "Scroggy Wood" it will be a visitor attraction to the Glens of Antrim and help out two very good causes.

The Hosta collection has currently 1000 Hosta different varieties planted in the wood with the other 500+ Hostas in containers at our nursery.

To make an appointment to come and see the NCCPG Hosta Collection

With a growing Hosta collection we are always on the look out for some of the older hosta cultivars that have been lost ie not commerical available.  Would love to know if anyone has some of the original Hosta plants from the late Hosta grower Eric Smith to add to my collection.

This is the first Hosta collection in Ireland and we hope it will be here for many years to come.
